John Weidman
LCT: Contact (Tony nomination, Best Book/Tony Award, Best Musical) co-created with choreographer/ director Susan Stroman; new book, coauthored with Timothy Crouse, for Anything Goes (Tony Award, Best Musical Revival; Olivier Award, Best Musical Production). Weidman has written the books for a wide variety of musicals including Pacific Overtures (Tony nomination, Best Book), Assassins (Tony Award, Best Musical Revival) and Road Show (presented earlier this season at The Public Theater), all with scores by Stephen Sondheim. Take Flight, score by Richard Maltby, Jr. and David Shire, premiered at the Chocolate Factory in London two summers ago. Since his children were pre-schoolers, Weidman has written for Sesame Street, receiving 12 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Writing for a Children's Program. He is currently president of the Dramatists Guild of America.
